Exodus 13:4   “On this day in the month of Abib, you are about to go forth.

4th day of the week (wedn.): Creation of the Luminaries

Bereshit – Genesis 1:14-19

And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.

Jubilees 2:8-9

And on the fourth day He created the sun and the moon and the stars, and set them in the firmament of the heaven, to give light upon all the earth, and to rule over the day and the night, and divide the light from the darkness. And God appointed the sun to be a great sign on the earth for days and for sabbaths and for months and for feasts and for years and for sabbaths of years and for jubilees and for all seasons of the years.

The 1st Month Gate

Henock 72: 32 & 6-9  (from the Ethiopian text, numbering by R.H Charles)

32. On that day [i.e. the 31st day of the 12th month, day before the 1st day of the 1st month], the night decreases and amounts to nine parts, and the day to nine parts, and the night is equal to the day and the year is exactly as to its days three hundred and sixty-four.

6. In this way he rises in the first month in the Great Gate, which is the fourth of those six gates in the east. 7. And in that fourth gate from which the sun rises in the first month are twelve window-openings, from which proceed a flame when they are opened in their season. 8. When the sun rises in the heaven, he comes forth through that fourth gate thirty mornings in succession, and sets accurately in the fourth gate in the west of the heaven. 9. And during this period the day becomes daily longer and the night nightly shorter to the thirtieth morning. (…)

1st Month – 1st Day: Noakh

Genesis 8:13-14

By the first day of the first month of Noah’s six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. By the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was completely dry.

Qumran 4Q252, fr. I (Gen. vi, 3—XV, 17)

At the end of three [weeks after Noah had sent forth the dov]e which did not return to him any more, the wa[ters] dried up [from the earth and] Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and behold, the face of the ground was dry (viii, 13). This was the first day of the first month.

Jubilees 6:23-31

And on the new head of the first month, and on the new head of the fourth month, and on the new head of the seventh month, and on the new head of the tenth month are the days of remembrance, and the days of the seasons in the four divisions of the year. These are written and ordained as a testimony for ever.

And Noah ordained them for himself as feasts for the generations for ever, so that they have become thereby a memorial unto him.

And on the new head of the first month he was bidden to make for himself an ark, and on that (day) the earth became dry and he opened (the ark) and saw the earth.

And on the new head of the fourth month the mouths of the depths of the abyss beneath were closed. And on the new head of the seventh month all the mouths of the abysses of the earth were opened, and the waters began to descend into them.

And on the new head of the tenth month the tops of the mountains were seen, and Noah was glad.

And on this account he ordained them for himself as feasts for a memorial forever, and thus are they ordained.

And they placed them on the heavenly tablets, each had thirteen weeks; from one to another (passed) their memorial, from the first to the second, and from the second to the third, and from the third to the fourth.

And all the days of the commandment will be two and fifty weeks of days, and (these will make) the entire year complete. Thus it is engraven and ordained on the heavenly tablets.

And there is no neglecting (this commandment) for a single year or from year to year.

Jubilees 5:29-30

And (on the head) in the fourth month the fountains of the great deep were closed and the flood-gates of heaven were restrained; and on the head of the seventh month all the mouths of the abysses of the earth were opened, and the water began to descend into the deep below. And on the head of the tenth month the tops of the mountains were seen, and on the head of the first month the earth became visible.

1st Month – 1st Day: Abraham

Jubilees 13:1-9

And Abram journeyed from Haran, and he took Sarai, his wife, and Lot, his brother Haran’s son, to the land of Canaan, and he came into Asshur, and proceeded to Shechem, and dwelt near a lofty oak. And he saw, and, behold, the land was very pleasant from the entering of Hamath to the lofty oak. And the Lord said to him: ‘To thee and to thy seed will I give this land.’And he built an altar there, and he offered thereon a burnt sacrifice to the Lord, who had appeared to him. And he removed from thence unto the mountain . . . Bethel on the west and Ai on the east, and pitched his tent there. And he saw and behold, the land was very wide and good, and everything grew thereon -vines and figs and pomegranates, oaks and ilexes, and terebinths and oil trees, and cedars and cypresses and date trees, and all trees of the field, and there was water on the mountains. And he blessed the Lord who had led him out of Ur of the Chaldees, and had brought him to this land. And it came to pass in the first year, in the seventh week, on the head of the first month, that he built an altar on this mountain, and called on the name of the Lord: ‘Thou, the eternal God, art my God.’And he offered on the altar a burnt sacrifice unto the Lord that He should be with him and not forsake him all the days of his life.

1st Month - 1st Day: Birth of Levi

Jubilees 28:14

14 And again Yacob went in unto Leah, and she conceived, and bare him a third son, and he called his name Levi, at the head of the first month in the sixth year of this week.
